Time for jackets: Cooler-than-normal temps gripping Metro Detroit

Rain chances return for latter half of week in Southeast Michigan

After hot and stormy weather this week, Metro Detroit is experiencing a dramatic cooldown. Temperatures were around 60 degrees on Saturday afternoon, which was 20 degrees cooler than Friday’s highs.

Saturday Night

Temperatures will fall to around 50 degrees on Saturday night. It will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy and breezy. Westerly winds will be 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Sunday

Daytime winds will be out of the northwest at 10 to 15, with gusts up to 25 mph, on Sunday. These conditions have prompted a Small Craft Advisory for the nearshore waters of Lakes Huron, St. Clair and Erie in Southeast Michigan through 10 a.m. Sunday.

Under mostly cloudy skies, highs will be in the lower-60s. Lows will be near 50 degrees.

Monday

Monday will bring a mixture of sunshine and clouds. Highs will be in the mid-60s, and lows will be around 50 degrees.

Tuesday

Tuesday will begin with dry weather, but rain showers will move into Southeast Michigan during the late afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the lower-60s, and lows will be in the upper 40s.

Wednesday & Thursday

Highs will be in the upper-50s to 60 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, with chances of rain showers.

Looking Ahead

Daily chances of rain will last into next weekend. Highs will be in the lower- to mid-60s.

Average highs for next week are in the lower-70s.
