DETROIT – Detroit Pistons guard Malik Beasley joined elite company during the team’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies beat the Pistons 109-103 on Saturday (April 5) inside Little Caesars Arena, but the game’s outcome wasn’t the story.

Beasley became the fourth player in NBA history to make over 300 three-pointers in a season, joining future Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame guards Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and James Harden as the fourth member to achieve such success.
The 300th three-pointer came in the third quarter with 38.2 seconds to play to help the Pistons take a 75-73 lead.

Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards became the fifth player to make 300 or more threes in a season during their victory vs. the Philadelphia 76ers, but that’s beside the point.
Although the Pistons lost and the Milwaukee Bucks won vs. the Miami Heat to move into the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference, Beasley is having a career year.
Beasley finished the game with 11 points, shooting 4/16 from the field and 3/12 from beyond the arc, but he is having a career year in the Motor City.
The former 19th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft (Denver Nuggets) is averaging 16.3 points per game on 43.2% shooting from the field and 41% from long distance in about 27 minutes per game.
Future Head Coach of the Year J.B. Bickerstaff gave Beasley the ultimate green light this season and the sharpshooter better known as “The Wiggle Man” has been spreading his wings, especially from Dec. 4 through Feb. 26 when he hit 156/351 three-pointers, while helping the team go 24-12 during that stretch.
Beasley has been coasting or flying high this season, and with the opportunity to let it fly while on the court, his confidence has helped the Pistons go from 14-68 to clinching a top-six seed and their first playoff appearance since the 2018-19 season.
With five games remaining, the Pistons, including a home matchup vs. the Sacramento Kings on Monday, April 7, followed by a potential playoff preview vs. the New York Knicks on April 10, have two games against the Bucks with potential seeding implications on April 11 and April 13.
If Beasley continues to insert himself into the NBA record books, he could become the first Pistons player since “The Big Nasty” Corliss Williamson to win the Sixth Man of the Year award back during the 2001-2002 season.
