ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A shooting that killed one person and injured three others at a Royal Oak Township park is under investigation.
Michigan State Police said the shooting happened at 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the Royal Oak Township Park.

According to police, a dispatcher received a call and could hear banging and screaming in the background. More calls to 911 were made and dispatchers learned that a shooting was happening at the Royal Oak Township Park.
When Michigan State Police troopers arrived at the park, they found a 44-year-old person with a gunshot wound to the head. That person was taken to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.
There was a large crowd in the park from a party. Police said the crowd was initially “not cooperative in leaving the crime scene.”
During the investigation, police said they learned of three more victims with non-fatal gunshot wounds who were at three different hospitals. They were identified as a 33-year-old from Detroit, a 15-year-old from Macomb, and a 19-year-old from Detroit.
Police said the investigation is still underway. They do not have information on the suspect and a motive for the shooting has not been determined.
