Weaver is accused of grooming the student and performing sexual acts while on school grounds.
He was arrested while wearing a disguise during an off-site school event on May 16, 2025, according to authorities.
Highland Park police said they worked with school security to identify Weaver. Police said he was disguised so that staff members wouldn’t recognize him.
Weaver is facing one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, and one count of misdemeanor indecent exposure.
He was arraigned Monday afternoon and given a $250,000 cash/surety bond. If released, he must wear a GPS tether and cannot have any contact with the victim or any minors.
A probable cause conference was scheduled for Tuesday, May 27.
Weaver had been a fine arts teacher at George Washington Carver Academy School since August 2023 and was a coach for the school’s dance team.
He was terminated from his position in May 2025.
School officials released the following statement on Monday afternoon:
“George Washington Carver Academy was recently made aware of an incident involving a teacher and student. We immediately notified law enforcement, placed the employee on suspension, and after an internal investigation, terminated their employment and removed them from campus.
