Suspects crash into police car after armed carjacking on Detroit’s west side

Both suspects are now behind bars and facing armed robbery charges

DETROIT – A carjacking on Detroit’s west side turned into a wild chase that ended with a crash involving a police cruiser.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (May 7) when police said two people pointed a gun at an older woman, robbed her, and took her car.

Police said they were chasing the suspects, but they crashed into a Detroit police cruiser near Freeland and Keeler streets.

Officials said a man and a woman tried to run away, but the woman was quickly arrested.

Police said a K-9 unit caught the man. Both suspects are now behind bars and facing armed robbery charges.
