Police remind drivers to be on the lookout for turkey as turkey hunting season is in full swing

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mich. – A driver was unscathed after a turkey flew into the windshield of his truck on I-96 Thursday afternoon.

The 19-year-old from Sterling Heights was driving eastbound on I-96 near Fowlerville Road in Livingston County at around 12:45 p.m. on April 24 when a turkey flew in front of his pickup truck and went through the windshield.

Police said the 19-year-old was able to maintain control of his truck, avoiding a major crash on the freeway.

The driver was not injured. The turkey, however, wasn’t so lucky.

Michigan State Police reminded drivers on X to be on the lookout for turkeys as turkey hunting season runs from April 20 through June 7.
