It’s National Volunteer Week, and volunteers play a major role in helping Michigan Humane carry out its mission.
“It’s hard to put into words how important our volunteers are at Michigan Humane. We honestly could not do what we do without them,” Lidia Vesterfelt said.
Forty percent of animals that come to Michigan Humane benefit from a foster home, Vesterfelt explained. Volunteers also take dogs on Canine Sleepovers and Dog Day Getaways.
Volunteers make a difference for animals through socialization and enrichment. Michigan Humane said volunteers are also part of outreach efforts and events.
